Help us combat antisemitism in the Berlin Art World - SHIUR at Berlin Art Week
10-14 September, 2025
Berlin Art Week is the city’s premier art exhibition event. Since October 7, the Berlin art scene has become increasingly politicized and hostile toward Jewish artists, curators, critics, and others working in the cultural sector.
SHIUR has been at the forefront of creating a supportive space for those who have stood up against antisemitism and dogmatism—producing original art exhibitions, workshops, retreats, Shabbat dinners, and cultural events that hold space for Jewish artists and their allies.
This year, SHIUR is hosting the go-to space for Jews and allies attending Berlin Art Week. SHIUR’s pop-up gallery is original works by Jewish, Arab, Israeli, Iranian, and other artists from around the world who have been excluded from ideologically driven art spaces.
The project aspires to create meaningful encounters between communities often separated by politics, history, or exclusion. In addition to the exhibition, we will host a series of community events, including a communal Shabbat dinner.
We believe that holding space and creating affirming events and programming is essential to resisting antisemitic and ideological pressures within the art world. We will offer a living example of what a non-dogmatic partnership oriented art world can look like in our fractured world.
Since 2018, SHIUR has been engaging with art and contemporary issues through a new take on the Jewish tradition of multidisciplinary discourse. We discuss primary text sources from theory, tradition, literature, and other sources. We hold Shabbat Dinners, cultural performances, and other activities that breathe new life into art spaces–and inspire new ways of thinking about current challenges. We seek to allow art its transformative potential.
SHIUR events and programming is held in galleries, museums, embassies, cultural institutions and other unique spaces.
We collaborate with contemporary artists, musicians, academics, policymakers, entrepreneurs and other creatives to enrich our discourse and promote impact.
We need your support to make this happen!

More about shiur
Regular in-person SHIUR gatherings in art galleries, cultural spaces, and other locations, where Jews and Arabs, Israelis and foreigners, come together through text-based discourse, led from both within the community as well as with different guest scholars. Thinking together, reading together, developing ideas and experiences together–is vital now as different narratives attempt to draw us apart.
Programming for Arab and Jewish youth–focusing on maintaining unity amongst the next generation. SHIUR has partnered with Mar Elias Educational Institutions in the Galilee as well as with Bedouin educators in the Negev.
Virtual SHIUR where the global community explores through text and discourse the current situation. We believe that maintaining a direct connection across borders and cultures is vital.
Original cultural programming in Israel and around the world. Art plays a vital role in times of war and instability. We support and create original art, music, and cultural events directly relating to what’s happening in Israel. We also have events in Europe and North America that are directly related to our activities in Israel—building bridges between all our communities.
